Jacquie Denby

Jacquie Denby

Jacquie lives and works in the market town of Grassington in Wharfdale, North Yorkshire. Grassington is surrounded by dramatic limestone scenery the subject of a number of Jacquie’s landscape paintings.

The daughter of Dales painter Arnold Denby, Jacquie grew up in the Dales village of Buckden, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and studied at Harrogate School of Art and the Jacob Kramer College Leeds.

Jacquie’s paintings and drawings are a response to the Dales landscape she lives in, and also to the urge to make something. She works in acrylic and mixed media, her work is increasingly abstract.

Jacquie’s work is in many collections both in the UK and further afield.

I start with an idea, after which the picture is allowed to take its own way and hopefully become something of interest, something that speaks back to me.

It is then up to the viewer to find something in the work for themselves.
