Sally Parkin Fitton

Sally Parkin moved to the North York Moors after graduating from the Royal College of Art. She works mainly within the printmaking areas, although she applies her prints to various surfaces including cushions and tiles. She is also involved in painting, particularly oil on card. Her subjects are drawn from the local scenery and especially this year, her domestic surrounds and garden.

“In the time I have been here, some 51 years, I have seen forests planted and then felled. I was soon aware of the footprints of earlier housing and the dry-stone wall results of the enclosures. Everywhere I turn I see the works of mankind.

Due to the introspection lock down has brought about, my current works have been concentrated within my immediate surroundings and I am lucky to live in a very open space with a large garden. These are the subjects that have informed my current prints.”
