A collaborative exhibition between Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre & Pyramid building on the success of previous exhibitions featuring artists with disabilities and neurodivergence at the Mills. The Magic Show is an immersive take-over of the Gallery, with artists from both groups responding to the theme of magic.
Opening times: Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-4pm. Closed on Mondays. FREE ENTRY

THE MAGICAL WEEKENDER - 26th & 27th September
Visit the Gallery on the final weekend of our exhibition, for live performances and creative workshops led by the incredible staff and artists from Henshaws Arts & Craft Centre and Pyramid.
SATURDAY PERFORMANCES
Head to the Gallery, where a corner of the space will be transformed into a stage for a day of magical performances. Expect music, drama, magic tricks and more! All from the artists and staff at these incredible organisations.
The Gallery Cafe will be open, serving tea, coffee and soft drinks along with a selection of snacks and cakes.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Henshaws & Pyramid to provide transport and payment to their facilitators and artists. Ticket prices are on a sliding scale, so please donate as much as you are comfortable with.

SATURDAY WORKSHOPS
CLAY MAGIC WANDS
w/ Poppy & Dan from Pyramid
This session with Poppy and Dan from Pyramid will focus on sculpting your own magical wand from clay inspired by Dan’s Harry Potter installation in the Magic Show.

WILLOW WANDS
w/ Alfie from Henshaws
Ever wanted to make your very own wand? Join Alfie in the willow wand making workshop at Sunny Bank Mills. He will show you how to weave the willow rods sharing his knowledge and expert tips on how to create the most magical wand ever! You will learn how to wet and bend the withies and build and secure your wand structure.

WIRE SCULPTURES
w/ Zoe (Deckle and Hide) & Debs from Henshaws
This session led by Art Maker Debs and artist Zoe is a sensory exploration of bead and wire work – Henshaws style! Throughout the session, you will use techniques and processes which have been developed with Art Makers at Henshaws to make jewellery making accessible to all.

SUNDAY WORKSHOPS
FELT MAGIC CREATURES
w/ Leigh & Heather from Pyramid
During this workshop, you will create your own magical creature, vegetable, mineral or otherwise! You will learn felting techniques and create a fun personality for your new fuzzy friend.

JUNK MAGIC CREATURES
w/ Lizzie & Elizabeth from Henshaws
Unleash your imaginative and creative powers in our intergenerational junk magic character making workshop. Using recycled materials, art maker Olivia will help, inspire and guide you to work together to upcycle, build and decorate your own magical character – who will of course have legendary magical powers!
12:30 – 14:30 | Ages 6+
CHARACTER DESIGN FOR TEENS
w/ Leigh from Pyramid
During this workshop, you will learn how to invent a character, develop their personality and narrative and draw them, inspired by work & techniques by Alexander Holt (Alexanderverse).
15:00 – 17:00 | Ages 12+
ACCESSIBILITY
The Gallery building is located on Farsley Town Street. The main entrance on Town Street has a flight of stairs. The Gallery can also be reached by a flat access entrance to the rear of the building, through the Mills’ Main Yard. There are several accessible toilets on site, including in the Gallery corridor, as well as free accessible parking.
