Michele Humes

Michele Humes is a multidisciplinary food obsessive: a trained chef, a cookbook author, and an artist who sometimes tries to paint other things but always comes back to food. She has a special love for noodle soup, which has been the subject of a series of single-bowl ‘portraits’ of different iterations of the dish, as well as the theme of the cookbook she wrote and illustrated, The Noodle Soup Oracle. With no formal art training and a diploma in French cookery, Michele depicts food with a cook’s sensibility, an eye for what is delicious.

Michele Humes is a writer and visual artist based in New York City. Michele studied cooking at the French Culinary Institute and earned an MA in Food Studies at NYU. Her wide-ranging experience in the food world has included stints as a line cook, a food stylist, a culinary illustrator and much more.
