Rosie McAndrew & Eden Group (Pyramid)

Pyramid is a Leeds based art collective investing in people with a learning disability, autism, or both, through the discovery, development and disruption of the arts.

The Eden Group, a group formed by Pyramid with a primary focus on visual art, have worked on some high profile public projects and have a permanent installation at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm (Farm Hill). The project on display as part of Don’t Play With Your Food is a collection of giant food and decorations called BIG DINNER PARTY, created in collaboration with artist Rosie McAndrew.

“When asked what the Eden group would like to do this term they replied ‘go for a meal!’

Meals out are always a popular conversation topic during our tea and biscuit breaks in the sessions. We decided to make our own fantasy meal full of towering sandwiches and glittery pizza slices. To make it really special we made decorations, costumes and a giant tie dye tablecloth to create a truly decadent dinner party photoshoot (and we had some real snacks as well!)”

Pyramid’s goal is to help people to discover the arts, and to develop their talents to become world-class artists. They disrupt the social and institutional barriers that prevent them from being recognised, supported and celebrated. Pyramid achieve this by delivering a programme of collaborative art groups, including a programme for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, and providing one-on-one creative support and professional development opportunities.

The Eden Group have worked in partnership with three European arts organisations to produce a touring exhibition, I Want to Know, and have had exhibitions at The Dean Clough Gallery and The Tetley. Read more here > https://pyramid.org.uk/eden/
