Drawing As A Way Of Thinking With Una

Join us in the Gallery on 24th November for Drawing as a way of thinking with bestselling artist and writer Una.

The aim of these workshops is to help artists and writers of all levels to use drawing to think through, develop and plan characters and stories and to understand how life-stories can be developed as comics.

This is a creative workshop. You will do a lot of drawing and doodling, some writing, some mind maps and thumbnails and make a storyboard. There will be some friendly, open discussion to share ideas and creative energy. Materials are provided. It is not necessary to be a fantastic artist to take part in this session, as long as you know how to doodle, you’ll be fine. (Fantastic artists are also welcome, of course).

All levels, ages 15+

Una is an artist and writer, published around the world. Her work has been featured on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour, Radio 3 Free Thinking, Oprah.com, The New York Times and Newsweek. Una’s work explores misogyny and violence in Becoming Unbecoming (2015), caring and mental ill-health in On Sanity (2016) and women’s creative self-help groups in Cree (2018). She is currently working on a political fiction for Virago Press (2020). Una works full time writing and drawing comics but previously lectured in illustration.
