Friday 18th, 25th May, and Friday 1st, 8th, 22nd and 29th June. 2.30-5pm.
During this six week course in the Spinning Mill Studios with tutor CarolAnn Allan you will cover the following skills:
An introduction to embroidery – a few stitches that can take you a long way. Don’t just think cross stitch, traditional stitches can be used in a more contemporary way.
English paper piecing – hexagons – this slow stitching method is very therapeutic and addictive.
Nui (Stitched) Shibori – Japanese stitching to create beautiful patterns – the cloth is dyed then stitches removed and the magic appears.
Reverse appliqué
All these methods will go towards making an A5 book cover with added embroidery pattern And will also include small pieces of fabric from the Sunnybank Archive.
