Printmaking: Bit by Bit 5 Week Course

£135Spend 5 Saturdays in the Spinning Mill Studios with tutor Laney Birkhead for an introduction to etching.
A five week short course introducing safe intaglio methods without the use of harmful chemicals and vapours. Create a wide range of marks on metal plates using unusual materials. Explore hard and soft ground techniques and print proofs as you go along. Plate preparation; studio set up and health & safety; waste disposal of etch; application of resists and grounds; line work; open bite; spray aquatint; inking up and plate wiping; press and paper preparation and print drying will be covered.
Dates: 21st, 28th April, 5th, 12th, 19th May 2-5pm
What to bring:
Old shirt /apron.
Small box of favourite basic drawing materials e.g. pen, pencil, rubber, scissors etc.
Small sketchbook / notebook in which to make notes and observations.
Minimum of 6 images (sketches / photos) you wish to work from. These can be your own primary images or secondary research images for an ongoing project or just for inspiration during the course.
A camera with which to record your creative journey (optional).
A3 small folder or wallet to take home prints in.
