Still Life Painting 3 Week Course

A 3 week course for beginners in our Spinning Mill Studios taught by artist Kim Coley.
Set over 3 Fridays in November, 1st, 8th and 15th.
£60 per person. £5 materials fee payable to Kim on the first day.

On the course you will learn to develop techniques, concepts and practices using drawing, painting and multi media to create your own still life paintings.
The course will consist of a series of practical exercises with individual tutoring, group discussion and reflections.
Week One
The mimetic approach. Considering how different artists throughout the world have approached the subject of still life, past and present. What can we learn from them?
Week Two
The objective approach. Training the brain to see like an artist. How form occupies space. Practical ideas for beginning and developing a piece of work. .
Week Three
The expressive approach. Experimentation and the use of instinct. How artists can combine all approaches to enrich their own practices.
