Each cloth and design in the mill is given its own individual number unique to Sunny Bank Mills.  A coding system is used for the cloth that is as individual to the cloth as it is to the individual Mill.  Before the invention of stickers or perhaps at a point in production were a label was not possible to be used on the cloth a machine stitched number was applied.  These individual hand machine stitched numbers seem to have a beauty all of their own.
