The Mill is open from 10-4pm on Friday 13th September to Sunday 15th September as part of Britains largest free heritage Festival. William and John are leading tours every hour exploring the mill and telling its fascinating history. The tours start from Sunny Bank mills Archive which has all the mills textile history for all to see. We have had a great time so far with old employees like the irrepressible Jack Rigg telling some great stories as we walk round. Another old employee, June Pearce who was a mender (repairing any faults in the cloth) told how she and her friends would sneak off to the ladies toilets to learn how to dance before they would then dare to venture out on a Saturday night to local Dance halls! The fantastic Gallery is also open showing the vibrant ‘Colour at t’Mill’ exhibition whilst the gallery tea room and shop offer an atmospheric place to relax and recoup after we have dragged you round all the corners of the mill on the tour!
