Your full name, and university course/year
Hollie Fuller, Illustration @ Leeds Arts University 2019
Can you describe your work to us in 3 words?
Playful, positive, light-hearted
What medium do you prefer to use?
My trusty mechanical pencil for drawing, then Procreate on my iPad for refining and finalising.
What is the inspiration behind your work?
People and things and people doing things. Mundane, everyday moments.
During this uncertain time what will you do to occupy yourself?
Reading all the books I’ve been hoarding, playing endless amounts of Animal Crossing and enjoying fresh air whenever I can. Hoping some inspiration will strike so I can work on some personal projects too!
Plans for the future?
I want to keep drawing nice things for nice people, tick off more dream clients, work in a nice studio with big windows and plants and maybe a dog.
Tell us about an exhibition that has stayed with you
Yorkshire Sculpture Park had a big KAWS exhibition a few years ago which was so good. Big old cartoon characters dominating the landscape. I think people can often find sculpture quite challenging, so it was refreshing to see something so playful and accessible. YSP is one of my favourite spaces, no matter what exhibition is on.
Any books/ films/tv series that you’d recommend for anyone interested in art?
For lovers of Van Gogh, At Eternity’s Gate
For nice symmetry and colours, Anything Wes Anderson For good characters, Present Laughter by Noel Coward
What are your favourite Instagram accounts?
@accidentallywesanderson @fruit_stickers @simpsonslibrary
What is your dream project?
So many dream projects! I wanna draw loads of silly people doing nice things. I’d love to work with more art galleries ~ creating work inspired by different exhibitions, or the gallery spaces in general, or people in galleries. So many ideas!
