Clare Lane first exhibited at Sunny Bank Mills in Empty Spaces, the first exhibition curated by Jane in 2013. She was artist in residence in 2014/15 and is a long-standing studio holder.

Clare used print and stitch to unpick the shapes and forms of the Mill and it’s machinery in brightly coloured pieces that were primarily chosen because they are discarded. Each fragment has its own story; from its origin as a plant or chemical fibre, to its middle use as bed linen or a shirt, or simply the cut scrap leftover from the making of another piece of work.
