Anna Lilleengen is a fine art photographer who uses vintage cameras to explore her practice. A winner of the vantage prize, Arts Council funding enabled her to exhibit Metamorphosis I in what was the Finishing Room; a semi-derelict space that no longer exists. Anna returned to Sunny Bank Mills Gallery to present Metamorphosis Series III for its first showing in 2021.
In Woven Stories, she returns to exhibit Metamorphosis IV: reflecting her own journey by returning each year to wilderness forests in Scandinavia where she has family roots. The Metamorphosis series record the subtle shifts and nuances of natural light and invite the viewer to experience the images and unexplored territories within themselves through their senses.
