Professor Sheila Gaffney is based in Leeds, UK, where she is the Head of Fine Art at Leeds Arts University.
Vest and Skirt are reconstructions of clothes the artist might have worn. They are part of Gaffney’s long-term interrogation that asks how sculpture can convey what it is like to inhabit a woman’s body as she experiences it. Vest and Skirt are sculptor’s drawings; both hard and soft, raw and ineffective.
