Ruth has lived in Grassington all her life. Her subjects are varied, always something that excites, with colour, line and shape.
Ruth strives for freshness, painting in acrylics or oils, adding collage and pencil to her work.
“What inspires me? Everything. There is just too much in my head! So much can excite … colour, emotions, images, nature, even a torn piece of paper on the floor! I wait for that first spark of creativity to crash into my mind, then I put my music on, pick up my brushes and paints – working with acrylics, oils and collage, I move quickly, boldly, intensely at first, then gently and thoughtfully, listening to my mind and music to let my hands and paints interpret what I have to say. Hopefully it will convey a lively feeling, a story that is different for each viewer.”
