Sarah du Feu is a Yorkshire based artist and printmaker. After a career in nursing and midwifery, she changed course and studied for a BA in printmaking at Leeds Beckett University, followed by an MA in Contemporary Fine Art Practice. She works within the genres of still life and landscape, often blurring the boundaries between the two. Her prints are explorations in form and colour: using both abstract and figurative elements in her work, she creates harmonious, peaceful compositions.
Sarah’s prints are built up in layers of ink, using stencils and lino, creating depth and texture. Although the prints have a deceptively simple and serene composition, they are complex, multi-staged works, often made up of 20 or 30 layers of ink, and sometimes taking days to complete.
The art of still life has been a recurring theme in Sarah’s work for many years.
