The Bobbin Room

The Bobbin Room is a characterful learning, meeting and workshop space,  situated near the Sunny Bank Mills Museum and Archive. This is a fully accessible room on the ground floor with lots of natural light from the two north light windows. The room has a versatile open plan layout spanning 780 sq ft. with a capacity of up to 50 in a theatre style seating arrangement.

On arrival, please contact the Estate Office at 20 Sandsgate where you will be provided with a meeting room key. The Bobbin Room is in Red Lane Mill at the top of the site, next to the Sunny Bank Mills Museum and Archive.

Please park in any available marked visitor space around the mill. If they are all full, follow signs for the overflow car park behind the 1912 Mill, where there are plenty of unmarked spaces for use.

History fact


Red Lane Mill was the site of the original weaving sheds where fine worsted wool cloth was made for men’s suiting. It now houses over 12 businesses including the Sunny Bank Mills Museum and Archive which documents 180 years of the mills’ history.
