Des Pattison introduced Creative Director Jane to Sunny Bank Mills and has been part of the Mills family ever since. He was our first artist in residence, recording some of the spaces that no longer exist including the Finishing Room, providing a visual story of the past. Des has exhibited with us in exhibitions including Beginning in 2013, Botanica in 2017, and Drawn from The Land in 2022. He has also acted as our technician in most of our 80 exhibitions in the last 10 years.
Des’ work in Woven Stories examines objects as carriers of pattern. By ignoring the normal conventions of pattern following form, his work plays with sense of both 2D and 3D.
