Dominic Hopkinson is sculptor, stone carving tutor and technician, who first exhibited with us in The Potential of Pattern in 2020 with his Pentahectatetracontahedron, a sculpture built of tiles and underpinned by a particular number 1.61803… an irrational number, known as phi (also known as the Golden Ratio) which can be derived from the Fibonacci sequence of numbers that occurs whenever nature begins to build a structure.
Dominic’s work in Woven Stories includes It’s All About The Rabbits, a joking nod to the story that Fibonacci was calculating the mathematics of breeding rabbits across multiple generations. 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and so on.
