Coiled Basket Making Workshop

Swarm artist and Basket Maker Sherry Doyal leads a one day workshop teaching wonderful coiled techniques inspired by the shape of bee skeps to make your own basket to take home.
This workshop is suitable for beginners.
Price includes all materials, a homemade lunch, and refreshments.

About Sherry Doyal: “Inspired by a material or found objects and associated ideas, concept is important to me. Working in progressively creative ways within the convention of botanic materials gives me ownership of my work.
I work from urban trees or woodland. I explore the idea of enclosure of the fragile, such as wasp paper, or containment of the dangerous, such as thorns. I select materials for variety of inherent colour or use plant dyes. I choose resin for scent and tack. Smoked materials gain colour, scent (and sometimes damage) in a process, not unlike a ceramic firing, with risk, which I like. I work small scale but push past this with larger repeat unit works.”
