Tangled Up

April 27 @ 10:00 am - June 30 @ 4:00 pm

Tangled Up considers how artists use textiles as a means of exploring personal and political narratives. It seeks to highlight the power of textiles in activism and protest as artists question issues affecting contemporary society.

We are surrounded by textiles from the clothes we wear to the contents of our homes, and they often go un-noticed as anything other than a practical means of covering ourselves or living our lives. Often associated with the home, they have not always been considered as art or even contemporary craft, but their rich history as a tool for protest tells a different story. Have we overlooked the power of textiles to bring about change?

Tangled Up showcases a number of textile artists and practitioners who use everyday textiles and materials to make a point, tell a story and untangle some of the complicated issues facing society.
