Teechers: A Classroom Comedy

3rd February 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A revamped version of John Godber’s classic Teechers will be performed in The Finishing Room on Saturday 3rd February

Written in 1984, Godber’s iconic piece of work reflected the political unrest of the time and the artistic director behind the new production believes that many of the themes will resonate with audiences now.

Spotty Socks founder Jacob Phillips said: “Although it was written in 1984, against the backdrop of our current political situation it feels as if it could’ve been written yesterday and we feel the messages are as important now as they were in the eighties.

“We hope we have achieved our vision of bringing the play bang up to date and given it a new contemporary feel.”

Phillips also stars alongside Chloe Lawson and Stephen Vaughan, two up and coming actors who exemplify the company’s ethos. The trio enjoyed great reviews as part of a smaller summer tour but are now about to embark on 16-date version.

“We try to prepare budding actors for a professional life in the theatre industry and Chloe and Stephen are both incredibly talented,” added Phillips. “We have performed together towards the end of last year and the reaction was fantastic – there’s a laugh a minute yet it really gets you thinking.”

Admission is based on the Pay What You Can initiative and tickets are available to book via http://codswallop.org.uk/boxoffice
