Weaving Voices – Paper & Paste

Shirley will help us to unwrap the mysteries of paper conversation; paper & paste and the tools of her trade .

The format will be a 1hr talk in the Bobbin Room followed by an opportunity to visit the Archive yourself as part of the event.

This is an informal talk with a limited number of attendees, so you will be given plenty of chance to ask Shirley questions and get up close with some mucky paper!

We strive to be as accessible and inclusive as possible, and thanks to National Lottery Heritage Funding, not only are all tickets subsidised, but also, this event will be BSL interpreted as well as being able to offer a limited number of free Accessibility & Inclusivity tickets to Deaf and disabled customers, and also to students.

About Shirley

Based their Conservation Studio at the West Yorkshire History Centre in Wakefield, Shirley oversees the work of the conservation team in the care of the West Yorkshire Archive Services (WYAS) collections stored across the five districts of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Leeds. This includes carrying out assessments and conservation treatments on the full range of archive materials, environmental management, emergency planning, outreach and training, as well as work for external clients.

Accessibility

The venue of the talk (the Bobbin Room & Archive) has flat access into the building, and a short ramp in one area. The building also has accessible toilet facilities. Thanks to National Lottery Heritage Funding, this talk will be BSL interpreted.
