Jane Walkley is a tapestry weaver, studio holder and Archive volunteer whose work is inspired by and often contains elements of the mills. She exhibited in Clocking Off in 2018, Material Matters in 2022 and with the 62 Group in Tailored in 2023.
Jane combines woven tapestry with cast jesmonite, a water-based acrylic resin. Left Over, featured in Woven Stories, is a testament to Jane’s commitment to the environment, serving as an important record of the waste her practice produces over time. Jane started building the piece in January 2019 as a way to reduce and monitor waste. Instead of pouring away the excess liquid jesmonite left over, she began collecting and stacking it, creating a towering sculpture.
