Kim Coley

Kim Coley has exhibited with us on a regular basis since Colour at ‘Mill in 2013. Kim and artist Mel Davies established our Spinning Mill life drawing class, and have led the sessions ever since.

Kim works in acrylic, household paint, ink, charcoal, pastel, collage, mixed media and print. She is interested in the natural world and conservation. Her current work is inspired by the abundance of life still to be found in British hedgerows. The elements which inspired these paintings were found in the hedgerows in one particular place, Walton Head Lane, Kirkby Overblow, North Yorkshire.

Kim uses “visual song writing” as an analogy for her creative process and is interested in the tensions between observation, and expression, truth and imagined truths.
