Erika Pearse

Erika Pearse is a third year BA (Hons) Fine Art student at Leeds Arts University. Her process-led sculptural practice attempts to materialise personal experiences of womanhood and inhabiting a female body, using strenuous repetitive material manipulation to encapsulate feelings of confusion, anxiety, unbalance and bleakness. Using contrasting materials that have been tested to their limits, her work captures the process of tampering with a public facade, often formed as a symptom of navigating womanhood in the world.

Trousers Pulled Down Too Hard (in a rush) expresses emotional rawness, whilst still adhering to outside performativity. It becomes alive through the implication of the aftermath of an action, which has left the work tarnished, but still standing proudly.
