Layla Jabbari

Layla Jabbari works with printmaking processes to explore the interconnected stories of the people around Her. Working initially from life, she develops narratives using intaglio print techniques including etching, aquatint and Tetra Pack.

Jabbari’s Valid for One Journey began by drawing and talking to strangers on trains to and from Hull and Leeds. These interactions led to narratives and stories based on people she met travelling across Yorkshire. Printmaking spans an in-between, falling between crafts and arts, high art and the commercial and was a wonderful way to explore a space that brings together people from many different backgrounds.
