Print Cyanotypes with Short and Few – Afternoon

March 3 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

In this one-hour workshop you will be introduced to the process of cyanotype printing, more commonly known as “sun printing”. It is a cameraless form of photography that uses UV light to create striking blue and white prints.

You will be briefly taken through the history of cyanotype printing, shown some examples of what you can do with the process, and guided step-by-step in making two prints and a greetings card. This is a practical taster workshop that will set you up with the knowledge and confidence to continue exploring the process in your own time!

All materials included.

Suitable for ages 14+.

This workshop will take place on the 3rd floor of the 1912 Mill, the venue for our artists’ book and print fair, Printed Bound. Visit our Eventbrite collection to see the rest of the weekend’s workshops, and see our website for more info and a full list of stallholders. CLICK HERE.

About your teacher

This workshop is run by Zöe Platt of Short & Few, an independent creative workshops venture that explores printmaking, alternative photography and bookmaking. Her background is in graphic design and typography, and over time her practice has become more process-driven, with a hands-on and analogue approach to image-making. She is a big believer in learning by doing and making mistakes as a form of enquiry, an ethos which underpins her teaching.

Zöe’s job is teaching at a specialist arts university in Leeds; and she has taught art and design in various capacities to all age levels, from young children to 70 year olds, people with neuro-divergency and learning differences, members of the public with no arts backgrounds, and seasoned artists who have taught her a thing or two.
